ATP is a molecule for energy storage used by all living cells and it is left over from the previous production cycle due to inadequate cleaning. A swab picks up this molecule and it is reacted with an enzyme luciferin/luciferase to produce light. This light is measured by a photometer and is proportional to the degree of contamination. The results are available real time and allows quick decision and corrective action unlike plate counts which gives results in at least 24 hours. The MVP ICON can be used with two types of sampling device; a surface swab and a liquid sampling device.

The RIDA®CUBE SCAN supplied by R-Biopharm Indonesia is a photometric system that allows biochemistry testing, covering all enzymatic and colorimetric assays for the detection of organic acids (e.g. lactic acid), sugars (e.g. glucose) or other food components (e.g. sulfite). The test principles and reagents are the same than those used for manual testing.
The RIDA®CUBE SCAN is a walk-away system that allows consecutive single-testing, in production facilities or in small laboratories. Each test kit contains 32 single test cartridges and one RFID card. All data specific for the test are stored on this RFID card, so there is no need to enter any instrument settings or test application settings. Results are calculated automatically and displayed on the screen. They can be exported to a personal computer or to a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Two analyzers are available with different combinations of wavelengths: 340 nm is always in place, in combination with a second wavelength respectively at 546 or 580 nm. Alternatively, the RIDA®CREST ICE is connected to the customers own HPLC, UHPLC or LC-MS/MS systems. In both cases, the use of the automated system has the added benefit of standardizing and harmonizing methods.
The innovative RIDA®CREST systems enable the online cartridges to be incorporated directly online with an HPLC, UHPLC or LC-MS/MS system. The fully automated analysis system can process up to 12 samples before the cartridge is automatically removed and replaced with a new one.
Following extraction and filtration, the sample is placed in an autosampler vial. The diluted sample is then injected into the online immunoaffinity cartridge which contains a specific monoclonal antibody. After washing and elution, the sample is quantitatively analyzed for the mycotoxin of interest. The instrument is capable of processing two cartridges simultaneously.
The system is suitable for the analysis of legislated mycotoxins in food and feed. It has been validated in a number of independent laboratories for the routine monitoring of aflatoxin, aflatoxin M1, ochratoxin and deoxynivalenol in a wide variety of commodities.

The Promicol method is based on measurements of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This nucleoside tri-phosphate is used as energy source of all living cells. Therefore a product sample can contain ATP from different sources:
The reagents from Promicol microbial ATP detection kits remove all sources of ATP except of microbial ATP which is afterwards specifically measured by bioluminescence reaction. A firefly enzyme is used which converts the specific substrate luciferin into oxyluciferin and light by using ATP. Therefore the released ATP is turned into light which can be measured and gives evidence of present microorganisms in the sample. In case no microbial ATP is present in the sample the reaction cannot occur and the sample is identified as sterile. The light produced is measured and expressed in Relative Light Units (RLU).
