Refractometers measure the change in refractive index of the fluid as light passes through. This is because the velocity of light in a medium depends on its density. This measurement can be correlated to density, total dissolved solids, percentage solids, brix, Plato, Baume, or Oechsle. Vaisala refractometers can be used to measure the concentration of sugar, salt, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide. It is also used in crystallization, solvent extraction, textile sizing, polymerization to understand the process efficiency.

Sanitary Process Refractometer

This meter measures Brix and other liquid concentrations so that you can know where the process in for food, beverage, dairy, and brewery manufacturing. Its sanitary construction meets 3 A standards as well as EHEDG regulations. and can be cleaned with CIP as well as COP product. The connections are available in all types of sanitary attachments.

The product works in every process condition from stable to demanding, in high process temperatures, and in sticky processes. Connectivity options include mA, HART, and Modbus RTU as a standard. The optics are positioned in the module away from the high temperature inner most regions. No calibration is necessary, and a separate attachment allows you to make calibration curves.
